When does a suspension start?

Modified on Thu, 29 Dec, 2022 at 2:18 PM

A player's suspension for a normal red card offence starts 7 days after the date they were sent off.

Claims for wrongful dismissal or mistaken identity have to be dealt with by the Friday lunchtime of the week after the offence was committed so that if the claim is dismissed then the player can still start their suspension on the 7th day.

Only games that are actually played and completed can count towards the suspension. Postponed or abandoned games dont count towards suspension. Fixtures missed for a second or third club the individual is registered for dont count towards the suspension - it has to be games played by the team when the offence was committed.

Suspensions imposed for misconduct cases start on the date imposed by the commission.
